Since 2020’s fourth quarter they have seen an increase of premium subscribers by about 52.26%. This equals to about 81 million new paying subscribers in the last three years.

Spotify Revenue

Altogether Spotify, in 2023, generated about $14.47 billion in annual revenue. This was an increase in revenue by 12.96% from 2022 when they earned $12.82 billion.

If we broke it down in 2023 they earned approximately $12.66 billion from Premium subscriptions. This was about 87.32% of their total company revenue. The rest came from their ad-supported revenue. The amount was about $1.84 billion. In 2022 the ad-supported segment was around $1.62 billion.

Spotify Market Share

Since Spotify is a publicly traded company they have market shares. In the music streaming industry they have 31.7% market share. According to data of the 713.4 million people with music streaming subscriptions about 226 million are subscribed to Spotify. This data is from the third quarter of 2023.

During the last five years Spotify had over a third of the market shares. And in 2019 it was the highest at 34%.

Currently about 40 million Spotify users listen to podcasts at least once in the USA. Monthly active podcast user number increased from 19.9 million in 2020 to 40 million in 2024.
